Database services install fails when install SQL server 2005 SP2

The error I got is:

MSP Error: 29537 SQL Server Setup has encountered the following problem: [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Cannot find the object 'dm_exec_query_resource_semaphores', because it does not exist or you do not have permission.. To continue, correct the problem, and then run SQL Server Setup again.

I tried to search internet, however, I couldn't get solution.

My SQL server 2005 is standard version, OS Windows server 2003 sp2, I am using Administrator account to install it.

Thanks a lot,

Rex

Nobody answer my question yet

I am wondering it is caused by Windows server sp2? I saw the requirement to install SQL server sp2 is the OS is windows server 2003 sp1, my current version is Window server 2003 standard sp2, will this cause the problem? any microsoft professional has any idea of it?

Thanks,

Rex

You can refer this link, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918695 but it provides a solution for SQL 2005 SP1 installation.....just ensure that the master and resource database fiels reside in the same location prior to installing SQL 2005 SP2.......its just a suggestion, i am not sure this will solve your problem but you can give a try and revert back..........

Thanks for relpy, my database files are all in default location where master database are, this link doesnt solve my problem.

Thanks anyway.

The server time is wrong, for some reason, our sys admin guy set it to 2003, he reset the time, and reinstall the sp2 without selecting any feature, now, I installed it again with all features selected, it works now.

Thanks,

Rex

Database Service wont start after installing SP2

I am hoping someone can help me. I am having issues changing the service account MSSQLSERVER. I changed it to Local System only due to issues installing Service Packs up SP2 Critical. I used the Configuration tool to do so. I have installed all patches up to and including Critical update ( KB 934458 ). I had a heck of a time getting them to install under custom service accounts. Now when I change the service accounts back to a custom account using the configuration tool the service wont start at all.

To be clear. The service runs fine under Local System Account, but I want to run it under a limited account. I used the config tool and made sure the permissions groups were added, but it still fails to start. I am not sure what SSL log entries below is referring to.

I am running:

SQL Server Standard Edition x86

Windows 2003 Stnd SP2

Below is the log file:

I am not DBA or very heavy IT, but rather a developer wearing multiple hats, for the time being. So any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, DMC

Can anyone explain to me what SSL log error is referring to?

database replication

Hi, newbie here.
I have an sql express database on my local machine (xp sp2) with many tables populated with plenty of data.
How can i duplicate/replicate this database?
Seems like it should be a straight forward thing, but i guess not.

Thanks!
-GarySQL Express can only subscribe to a replication, it can't publish I'm afraid.

Database Publishing Wizard doesn't capture DB name

I used the sql database publishing wizard 1.0 against a SQL2K5 SP2 server. It seems to properly captured all of my data and schema, but not the actual database name. When I restored the database the wizard created to another test sql server, it restored everything to [Databases \ System Database \ Master] instead of [Databases \ MyDBName ].

My original database was created under the umm, dbo credential.

Ideas on how to get the wizard to properly create the original database name (yes, I can manually put the sql commands into the script it generated, but then its not a fully functional wizard)?Found more bugs.

In my original database, I had a login that was under [Servername \ Security \ Logins] and an associated User under [Servername \ Databases \ MyDBName \ Security \ Users ]. The wizard created them in the new database as roles. This means the login accounts ended up in [Servername \ Databases \ System Databases \ Master \ Security \ Roles \ Database Roles\].
